About the Endowment
The Sam Rhinesmith Band Endowment Fund was established in 2010 by the North Central Band Parent Organization (BPO) with a matching grant from the Washington Township Schools Foundation (WTSF). This endowment is in honor of the legacy Mr. Rhinesmith instilled in the NC Band; a legacy that promotes concert band as the core and most integral part of the band program. This tradition has been proudly carried on with the NC Bands from 1955-present. This endowment will be used to fund private lessons for students with financial needs.
Alums Serve on Endowment Committee
A special reunion took place on the night of the endowment auditions in September. Valerie Plane (class of 1974) and Jont Rogers (class of 1976) joined their high school band director Sam Rhinesmith in interviewing and listening to the auditions of nine young high school band students. Many thanks for the time they shared in making the students feel at ease and their thoughtful deliberation in selecting the award recipient.
